Our goal at Hometown Princeton is to highlight the many independently owned businesses that make Princeton an interesting and exciting place to live, work, study, and visit. We also promote the economic, environmental, and social benefits that local ownership brings to our community.

Membership in Hometown Princeton is open to businesses located within Princeton Borough and Township. A Hometown Princeton business is one that is privately owned with at least 50% of the ownership held by someone who lives within a 50-mile radius of Princeton.*

Hometown Princeton business owners have complete autonomy when making purchasing decisions, including the ability to purchase services from other local businesses and to stock our shelves and kitchens with locally made goods and locally grown ingredients. We are free to choose the local charities we support and the local organizations we join. And we are free to work with other local businesses on events and projects.

We have put together a comprehensive list of Princeton’s independently owned stores and restaurants. If we have missed anyone, please let us know and we’ll make sure that qualifying businesses are added to the list.

*One exception: we grandfathered in Mitch Forest who has moved west, but whose powerful presence is still felt within the local business community
